The Bay of Fires on Tasmania’s north east coast, is alight with bright red, orange and yellow rocks.  Alas, it’s name, despite popular belief, does not come from these beautiful lichen-covered red rocks.  It’s name comes from the time of the early explorers who saw many fires along the shores, lit by the original local aboriginal inhabitants.
